Jiaomei Development Area was authorized as the first cooperative experimental zone for whole tract land development. The General Planned Area is 10 sq. km. It is a provincial-class development district and is named the Area of Taiwan Investors by the state in April 1998. Since July 1991, we have invested 630 million USD and exploited about 3 sq. km., 79 projects are now operating here, totalcontractual investment 618 million USD, actually used 450 million USD. 60 projects are already in production. By the year 2002, the GNP had reached 2379 million Yuan, the export rate 78.4 million USD; tax (not including customs duty) 62.37 million Yuan. 9 new projects have been approved and the contractual investment 46.89 million USD, actually used 13 million USD.

        After ten years development, Jiaomei Development Area has appeared three features:

1. It has become one of the most concentrated areas of Taiwan investors. It got 30 enterprises and 26 have been in production. That is 38% of the enterprises in this zone and 43.3% of the ones in production. Total investment 380 million USD, that is 61.5% of the total investment in this zone. Actually used 230 million USD, which is 51% of this area.
   
2. Investments over 10 million USD, we've got 2 enterprises with the investment over 100 million USD, 9 with the investment over 10 million USD. By the year 2002, there are 8 enterprises with over 100 million Yuan in production, and 32 with over 5 million Yuan.
   
3. Formed four groups of industries, three chains of production and two famous brands. They are the Tinplate Company in stainless steel products, Donghai Frozen Food Corporation in food products, Kaiguan Stainless Steel Company in building materials, Yifu and Zhuyi in sports requisites. Three chains are as follows: tinplate-tin-drinks and canned food; billiard ball-cue-billiard table and billiards mementos; Baseball and its relevant products. Two famous brands are Taishan drinks and Gede baseball (used in the Olympic Games).
   
4. During the past decade, Jiaomei Development Area has grown into an attractive area with superior service. We have decided to serve the investors heart and soul.
